Remember, a small portion of all elephant sales is donated to the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. Elephants are not meant to be kept in zoos or circuses. In zoos and circuses they do not get the exercise they need and get in their natural environments. Instead they often get a debilitating, painful and sometimes fatal foot disease. These very social and intelligent creatures often live alone, sometimes chained, sometimes in cages, instead of in large roaming groups. The Elephant Sanctuary is a great attempt to give back to these elephants who have been taken from their natural environments to work for and entertain humans to their own detriment and demise.
